When I first got my '01 Savage, I was convinced that my 5th gear was worthless. Then, I read about someone having a difficult shift up to 5th, especially when the bike was new. On my way home that night, I discovered that I had not been shifting up to 5th at all! The shift was really hard but has gotten easier as the miles have accumulated. Still not that impressive, but better than my phantom technique:-)
